The Business Operations team is a centralized team that performs a variety of functions for Digital & Professional Learning to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Vicki oversees both the Business Operations Team and The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City, providing leadership and direction for the unit’s day-to-day operations. Her role spans a wide range of responsibilities, helping ensure that the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the unit are aligned and running effectively. She contributes to strategic planning and helps translate priorities into actionable operations across the unit.

We Manage Payroll & Hiring
As a dynamic duo, we manage all things payroll and hiring for the unit—juggling Summer Term appointments, faculty stipends, camps on campus hiring, professional development contracts, and the full lifecycle of hiring for non credit instructors, student and temporary employees. From contract processing to onboarding to making sure everyone gets paid correctly and on time, we’ve got it covered. It’s a mix of precision, problem-solving, and a lot of coordination—but we make it look easy (and maybe even have a little fun along the way).

As a team of four, we keep the unit running by managing all things budget and finance, from travel arrangements to ordering supplies and everything in between. If it requires funding, it comes through us. We balance the books, track the details, and make sure resources are where they need to be—efficiently and responsibly. Think of us as the go-to crew that turns ideas into reality… as long as there’s a budget line for it.

We Improve Processes
Powered by a team of one Katherine leads the charge on developing, implementing, and enhancing high-impact business process improvement projects for the unit, all while making Smartsheet do things most of us didn’t even know were possible. Serving as the administrative lead for Smartsheet across the entire university, she also keeps a close eye on system licensure and tracking for the unit. Simply put, if there’s a process that needs fixing, building, or completely reimagining she’s already three steps ahead. Equal parts strategist and problem-solver, she has a knack for figuring things out and making everything run smoother (and smarter).

Regardless of the nature of the issue, we are here to help (or at the very least point you in the right direction to find the help you need), and welcome all opportunities to collaborate.

We’re the go-to team behind the scenes (and often on the scene), ensuring every event runs smoothly and delivers an exceptional experience. From first impression to event conclusion, we handle it all with precision and professionalism and if something comes up, we’ll figure it out and keep things moving seamlessly.

Keeping The Dubois Center running like a well-oiled machine. As a team of three, we handle the day-to-day operations that make everything come together, from academic room scheduling to ensuring faculty, staff, students, and clients all have a seamless experience. We’re the behind-the-scenes problem solvers, space planners, and experience makers juggling calendars, troubleshooting on the fly, and making sure every detail is just right. If something needs coordinating, adjusting, or elevating, we’re already on it (and probably three steps ahead).
